Blast hose is special built for extreme wear resistance and static dissipation. Regular hose will not last nearly as long or dissipate static charge like blast hose does. Most blast hose is built with braided layers or plys along with an outer rubber jacket and an inner rubber liner. Blast hose is commonly offered in three ways 4-ply, 2-ply, or lightweight 2-ply. 4-ply hose is typically the most expensive but will last the longest, however it is very heavy compared to other hose. 2-ply is slightly lighter than 4-ply however it has a shorter life. Lightweight 2-ply is the most common blast hose, these hoses have many trade names and differ depending on the manufacturer. Lightweight 2-ply still offers great strength and longevity and is the most common due to lower cost, less operator strain and easier transport.
